Shilpa Shirodkar decided to quit acting after marriage, and her last film appearance was in the 2000 film Gaja Gamini. She was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1993 for Khuda Gawah. She was paired in nine films with Mithun Chakraborty, and fans appreciated their onscreen pairing. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shilpa Shirodkar recalls how she met Boney Kapoor for the first time for signing the film Jungle which was later shelved.

Speaking about how she met Boney Kapoor, Shilpa Shirodkar shared, “Jab mai Boney Ji ke ghar gayi thi, tab Boney Ji aur sab Chembur me rehete the. I went to their house with my album, and Boney Ji really adored me. Mona Ji was there, the kids adored me, Arjun and Anshula were very, very small. And I still remember Sunday ka waqt tha aur woh log parathe kha rahe the sab baithke. Surinder ji bhi the, Boney ji ke mummy daddy, aur they genuinely liked me a lot. Aur hum logo ne photoshoot bhi kiya tha, look test bhi kiya that. But destiny had other plans, toh woh film nahi bani meri. You know how the industry was, ki 2 badi badi filmo ke baad, ek toh launch ho ke nahi bani, ek baat ho ke bhi nahi bani.”
What happened to Boney Kapoor’s Jungle?
Boney Kapoor selected Shilpa Shirodkar for his film Jungle, but the film was shelved. Shirodkar has also spoken about being called too fat for the song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya. Boney was going to introduce Sanjay Kapoor in Jungle. Shilpa was selected for the film, but Shekhar Kapur did not want her. The film was eventually shelved. Shirodkar has said that the industry wrote her off as a “jinx” after she lost out on Souten Ki Beti and Jungle.
